One India Many States?

Some eminent person threatens the government that he will die fasting if his demands are not accepted. And the government says yes you can have your demands.

This is the story in precise for the formation of the Telangana State from Andhra Pradesh. Many princely states united to form India Union. But now we heading back to formation of many states from the united India. There are more imporatant matters to which the government should be giving importance to. We should all contribute or help the government in making India developed. Instead we are fighting amongst ourselves for separate states.

The government should make a proper decision. If it agrees to the formation of a new state many more voices will rise, many more "eminent personalties" will set themselves to fast until death principle. It will be a difficult situation for the government to handle so many agitations from all parts of the country. Vidharbha, Coorg, Surashtra, Gorkha Land all want to be a separate state.

The best solution for all this is in the roots of this problem. Why do these regions want a separate state? The answer for that is the solution for the government. May be the resources aren't being distributed fairly. May be these regions haven't been developed on the scale in which other districts in that state has. May be they don't have even the basic necessities for living. May be there are a lot of antisocial elements in those region that people are concerned about their own safety and feel that the present state government isn't ensuring the same. Finding the actual reason for the agitation and solving the same will ensure that such divisions wont happen in future and people can live peacefully with harmony.

Lets hope we don't find India with 500 states again.

The Dark Side

It is nice to hear that there are organizations taking up the responsibility of doing social service. They call themselves Non Governmental Organizations(NGO).It is indeed a noble cause. Some make books for poor students, some give them shelter, some take care of the aged, some take care of our environment, some help people get justice, etc. But is it true?
Not many of us know the dark side of such NGO's. I agree there are people with noble ideas. My blog is nothing against them. But its sad to hear that there are people with wrong intentions running such NGO's also. We get a lot of support from people in other countries.
What takes for a NGO to get cash? Employ people who are very good at marketting and designing. A powerful power point presentation and a tearful speech by the Marketing Incharge somewhere in USA or Sydney. The rich will fall for it. And there you go- Cash!!!!
This is a shameful action. Thats the reason many people associate the word "poor" to "India". We all know its not true. We can ofcourse bring about a change which is obviously more effective than those foreigners giving cash for nothing.
I have noticed students flying to India to "volunteer". Again this can be analyzed in two ways.
1. They are very much interested in Volunteering.
2. They come here for fun and for credits.
Well in most of the cases they are here for the 2nd option. It is a mandatory exercise for the students belonging to some streams. So they come here, tag along with one of the NGO and "help" them. NGOs must be careful in choosing such students. Its better to not help rather than seem helping!!
They are working for a noble cause but the goal is realized if and only if they have a heart in whatever they do.
